Lymphedema Management

  • Lymphedema management:
    • Begins with the documentation of limb measurements:
      • For both arms or legs:
        • Using either volume displacement or circumferential measurement:
          • All extremities must be measured at multiple points.
  • Increased physical activity:
    • Has proven to decrease lymphedema symptoms
  • Compression sleeve:
    • Should be 30 to 40 mm Hg of compression
  • There are several microsurgery techniques:
    • That have proven to improve lymphedema symptoms
